Crafty Afternoon

I love crafty afternoons, a room filled with creative people and mountains of different materials. It is always a chance to learn, teach, chat, share, drink great tea or coffee, eat yummy baked treats and relax with growing friendships.

In one of these great afternoons last year at Kat's I used a sewing machine for the first time! Kat has also taught me how to knit and crochet. These new skills have surprised the older generations in my family :)

Last Sunday it was my turn to share some beading techniques. This time I have also baked my first ever scones, which I dare to say were yummy! They weren't any scones... they were ginger bread man shaped scones!

It was really cool to be able to combine our crafty skills into new projects. Kat had made two little cute crochet flowers and wanted to turn those into a ring. She had also made some small green crochet leaves to add to some  cherry/apple lookalike earrings and a nice crochet flower with beads to make into a bracelet. After some time over beads, colours, materials and techniques combinations all got done.
This was the first time Julie joined our crafty adventures and she managed quite well making her first earrings in her favourite colour - green.

Can't wait for the next meeting where I will hopefully practice my crochet flowers now that I have a brand new set of crochet needles and yarns!!! :)
